School of Christian Formation
The School of Christian Formation (SCF) was founded to provide a structured path of discipleship for individuals wanting to grow deeper in their walk with Christ. SCF aims to equip disciples who are wanting to take the next step in their spiritual growth and development by providing quality instruction that can be applied directly to the pace and practices that inform their lives.
SCF offers a distinctive blend of academic rigor, contemplative practice, and community engagement, equipping disciples to embody Christ’s presence in both church and world.
The School of Christian Formation exists to embody One Church’s vision of Just One More person encountering God, experiencing belonging, and making a difference.
To earn the certificate in Christian Spiritual Formation, students must complete the following three, 15-week courses.
This course invites students to engage the theologies and practices of Christian spiritual formation, cultivating rhythms that form us into Christ’s image for the sake of others. Students will develop a Rule of Life that incorporates rhythms of prayer, study, and service to shape Christlike character.
This course engages the desert tradition, its ancient writings and key personalities, in conversation with contemporary writers, so as to become acquainted with, and challenged by, the forerunners of the contemplative Christian tradition. Students will encounter ancient voices that challenge modern assumptions about faith and practice.
This course is designed to cultivate awareness of the mindsets and practices that lead to a slow, deliberate pace and practice of life in the presence of God. Students will cultivate habits of attentiveness, presence, and rest in God.
Tommy Brown, SCF Founder and Lead Pastor at One Church. Tommy holds an M.Div from Wake Forest University and DMin from Southeastern University. He is the author of The Seven Money Types (Zondervan, 2017), The Ache for Meaning (NavPress, 2023), and The Speed of Soul (NavPress, 2025).
Robby Landon, SCF Graduate and Program Administrator. Robby holds a B.S. in Computer Programming Technology from Southwestern College and a Master of Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies.
Sheena Ratliff, Certified Spiritual Director with the Christ-Centered Spiritual Direction Association and graduate of the Soul Shepherding Institute.
SCF meets on Wednesday evenings at One Church | Niceville, FL.
